Although national politics attract a lot of attention, some of the most important decisions that affect our everyday lives relate to local issues such as zoning and development.  It is vital that these decisions be made locally in an environment in which citizens can provide input.  The state legislature should not usurp the decision-making power of municipal governments or assign this privilege to private entities.
