Pro-Life

I believe in the sanctity of human life and our responsibility to protect it.  I do not support abortion, although I believe it should be an allowable option in cases of rape, incest, or serious threat to the mother.  I believe that we can reduce the number of abortions performed by focusing energy and attention on prenatal health care and on programs that help prevent unwanted pregnancies.  Making the adoption process as easy as possible and educating people about adoption procedures can encourage women with unwanted pregnancies to pursue this option rather than abortion.  Providing services to help the disabled and their caregivers demonstrates that our society values all human life and can encourage mothers to continue a pregnancy when a fetus is shown to have disabilities.

Our commitment to a child’s health and safety should not end at birth.  As a society, we have a responsibility to ensure that all children have access to quality health care, clean air to breathe, safe neighborhoods, and a strong public education system.  We need to protect future generations by preserving our environment, wisely using our resources, and promoting technological advances that will improve the quality of human life.
